Winndell Eric Johnson was born on August 27, 2002, in Hunting Park, California, to Janette Hernandez and Lydell Warner Johnson. He passed away on May 31, 2025, in Palmdale, California, after being struck by a car. Winndell was a kind and loving young man known for his warm personality, natural confidence, and great sense of humor. He loved to engage in conversations and had a bubbly presence with his friends, family, and those around him.

He was passionate about his Christian faith and regularly read the Bible. Not only that, but he enjoyed discussing politics and kept up with world events by subscribing to several magazines. He was also deeply interested in sports, particularly World Wrestling Entertainment and basketball, and could recall the year and date of any championship, including those that happened before he was born. Winndell had a strong interest in U.S. history and was able to name every president featured on coins and dollar bills. He recently began learning to play the piano and quickly showed a natural talent for it.

Winndell graduated from Highland High School and received several academic awards throughout his education. He was working part-time at Harold Bennett Construction, laying flooring, and he took pride in helping out. Just two months before his passing, he planted an above-ground garden with his aunt and was filled with joy when he saw the tomatoes and jalapeños begin to grow. He was known for his love of fine clothes and jewelry, and was also very popular on social media. He often expressed his hope of one day finding love and becoming a father, asking his aunt with sincerity whether that day would come.

He is survived by his mother, Janette Hernandez; his grandmother, Carlotta Jumper; and his brothers, Jerome and Matthew. He is also survived by two uncles and a host of other family members who cared for him deeply. He was preceded in death by his father, Lydell Warner Johnson.

Winndell would want to be remembered as a Christian who, though not perfect, was growing in his faith and lived his life with love and respect for those closest to him, especially his mother, his grandmother, and his aunt Gloria. He is terribly missed by his family and friends, and his presence will be remembered with love.

Memorial service details are still to be determined.
