Obituary

Willie Stanley Burks was born October 21, 1960 to the late Willie Louis and Della Burks in East Chicago, Indiana. He slipped away on July 4, 2025 in Paramount California.  After attending West Side High School in Gary, Indiana, he went on to serve honorably in the United States Army.  He was assigned a tour of duty that took him to Europe.  There, he developed a love for nature and traveled throughout the country for some twelve years.  As much as Willie loved traveling, his true passion was for people.  People were always drawn to Willie’s challenging but inviting smile.  I was often amazed at how people seemed so at ease in his company.  In a word he was “warm” and engaging.

Willie, affectionately known by his friends as (Will), but as Stanley by his siblings, was preceded by both parents Willie L. and Della Burks.  Twin sisters Gertha and Gertrude Burks along with Katherine Harris and Patricia (William) Porter.  Along with three brothers, Will Smith, Phillip Burks and Lamar Burks.  

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his daughter Letitia Pauly, his son Jovonee Thomas Sr., and lifelong companion Nobalene Burks; three sisters Bertha Burks, Mary J. Burks and Melinda Davis; brothers Edward (Patsy) Burks, Melvin J. Burks and Fredrick Burks.  Along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
