Karin Angela Wilcox ( Nee Hilgart) died on May 24, 2025, in Temecula, California in the company of her children and partner. She is finally free of the breathing problems that plagued her since she was young, and in the end claimed her life.

Karin was born in April of 1944, in Vienna, Austria and came with her mother to Illinois in 1953. Her life was a true rags to riches story: coming from a single-parent, immigrant family, Karin built a life full of love and success. She took great pride in raising her children and loved being a dedicated mother as well as an extraordinary pet parent to a host of rescue dogs, cats, ferrets, birds and horses.

Karin was a graceful dancer and prolific painter and artist, whose creative talents were only matched by her sharp wit and love of  laughter. Known for her great sense of humor and feisty stubbornness, she never met a crossword puzzle she couldn't finish, and would beat anyone who dared to challenge her to a game of Scrabble.

Karin started her working life in Insurance, working for Safeco in Seattle. She later became a realtor with Windermere Real Estate. Throughout it all, she was a devoted full-time mother, artist and household manager.  She was a woman who loved authentic interactions with people and could connect with anyone from any walk of life. She  will be remembered for her generosity, wit, artistic talent, and genuine heart as well as her great love of animals.

Karin is survived by her son, Scott Wilcox; daughter, Julianna Wilcox; grandchildren, Maya Wilcox and Alexander deWolff; great-grandchild, Mabel deWolff; stepchildren, Matthew Wilcox and Shelby Wilcox; her partner Gene Keough and her beloved dog Wolfgang. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Hilgart; the father of her children, Charles Wilcox; and her stepdaughter, Cynthia Wilcox.

A Celebration of Life and Art Show will be held on June 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in Winchester, California.
