Kevin Renee Harris who was affectionately known as “Kev” by Family and Friends passed away on June 6th, 2025 after suffering a stroke. He was 65 years old.

On November 12,1959 Kevin Renee Harris was born to the union of Evans Wonnie Harris and Erma Jean Harris in Los Angeles, CA.

Kevin was a born and gifted musician, a true artist who could make music from anything he touched. From the harmonica to the drums, guitar, bass, saxophone, piano and more, music was not a passion, it was his way of life. Jazz and the blues were his favorite genres, and you could often find him sitting on the beach, lost in the rhythms he loved.

The musical foundation blocks were laid at an early age, he grew up in a house that was always filled with music of all genres, but especially Jazz. High school was no exception; Kevin was a proud alumni of the Locke High School Saints Marching Band. He also attended the Music Institute in Hollywood CA.

Before he committed fully to music, Kev began his career as a nurse and caregiver to the elderly and worked as a sous chef in several restaurants. But once the opportunity came to join a band, he left the stethoscope and apron behind and never looked back. His talent carried him around the world. Sharing stages with renowned musicians. Most recently, he played harmonica and bass with the band Blind Mule. His presence, both on and off stage, will be deeply missed by his fellow bandmates and loyal fans.

Kevin lived his life as a free spirit and traveled like a gypsy, always with an instrument nearby and a story to share. He had an infectious laugh and always a good joke or tale from the road. His famous Chilli Gumbo was a treasured recipe he cooked for those lucky enough to try it, though he never revealed its secrets. He was also known for tinkering with motorcycles and bikes, which made him a beloved and popular member of The Chosen Few Motorcycle Club, where he was known as K-Bone.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Evans Wonnie and Erma Jean Harris, and his brother Alonzo Harris.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving sister, Cora Harris Sanders, brother-in-law Kevin Sanders, aunts Loretta Collier and Yvonne McClenton, and friend Nellene Smith. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, relatives, friends,  and his faithful companion, his dog Pooh.

Kev would want to be remembered exactly as he lived: with music in his soul, laughter on his lips, and love for the open road.
