Roy Hayden Wickstrom, age 65, passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles at the beginning of April. Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Roy spent his childhood in California and Texas, shaping a life marked by service, creativity, and quiet generosity.

Roy proudly served his country including at an Air Force base in Nuremberg, Germany, where he formed lasting memories and friendships that he cherished throughout his life. His professional path led him into the world of information technology, where his steady hand and problem-solving spirit benefited a wide range of organizations—from Warner Bros Studios and the U.S. Border Patrol to Wells Fargo Bank.

In recent years, Roy found great purpose working for a nonprofit dedicated to helping elderly and disabled individuals secure housing. He later took on a vital role with the County of Los Angeles, ensuring that voting locations and equipment functioned smoothly during the presidential primary elections—work he approached with deep commitment to civic responsibility.

Outside of his career, Roy lived a life filled with interests. He was an avid cook, a devoted friend always ready to offer help or a good story, and a lifelong car enthusiast. Roy also had a creative streak, crafting custom belts, hat bands, and boot harnesses that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and style.

He is survived by his sister Johanna Wickstrom; his niece Nicole Phillips, her husband Darwin and their children, Cameron, Christopher, and Cayden; and his nephews Royce and Leo. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Belva and LeRoy Wickstrom, and his sister Yvonne Wickstrom.

Roy’s gentle nature, service-minded heart, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched.

A private remembrance will be held by the family.
